Order Xbox 360 VGA HD AV Cable

I've got all three cables- component, VGA, and HDMI- for my XBOX 360 Pro. I was an HDMI fanatic until I retested my options during a spring TV calibration, and surprisingly returned to VGA. Personally, on my 1080p 42-inch Dynex LCD, VGA still has the best overall video quality.

Component video looked great, and had better black levels than VGA before the 360 VGA update. Plus, the component cable was free with my system. Unfortunately, constant video switching and the inability to upscale older material knocked the component cable down a few notches.

HDMI looked fantastic, too, especially running content in 1080p. Unfortunately, occasional video and audio dropouts, and overscan issues on my TV managed to set HDMI back to second place. I love the convenience of HDMI's single cable, and the video was indeed gorgeous, but no amount of calibration, even in my TV's service menu, could tame my video dropouts and overscan issues via HDMI.

My specific TV is only able to accurately map test patterns, via Digital Video Essentials, by using the 360's VGA cable. After the intermediate black-level update via 360, the black levels, grayscale, and color accuracy look great. Everything runs at 1080 (even standard dvds), and video is smoother with less jaggles when compared to component. After my TV's calibration, HD material in games, HD-DVDs, and streaming Netflix all look as good as HDMI on my specific set. The only downside is that I can't adjust color gain in my TV's standard menu using VGA, but I can using the service menu, and color accuracy looks rich.

Even though I know the technical benefits of going from a 1080p source to a 1080p TV digitally, I just can't return to HDMI and forget about my overscan and video issues. For me, and anyone else who has a VGA input on their TV, the XBOX 360 VGA cable is worth a look for upgraded picture and upconversion. I won't use anything else.Get more detail about Xbox 360 VGA HD AV Cable.
